Fang Bin was angry that the Chinese government tried to cover up the #COVID-19 outbreak in early 2020 and went to various hospitals in Wuhan to video-record what he saw as a citizen journalist. On 1 February 2020, he accidentally filmed that in front of Wuhan No. 5 Hospital, eight corpses were taken out within 5 minutes. After uploading the shocking video to YouTube and WeChat, he was immediately detained by the police and was released a few hours later due to public outcry. He was later detained again on 9 February at his home, where firefighters first broke down the door and plainclothes police broke into his home and took him again. Since then, his whereabouts remain unknown.
